Dog Boarding in Oklahoma City: A Vacation-Style Atmosphere

At Hefner Road Pet Resort, our goal is to give every guest their own personal vacation and help worried pet parents feel confident about the care their companions will receive.

Our dog boarding suites are designed to provide optimal comfort—no chain links or metal bars, glass doors for seeing out, and all-inclusive amenities to keep your companion active, well-fed, and happy. In short, your pet deserves old-fashioned hospitality in a place that feels more like a getaway and less like your typical dog boarding facility.

*DogTV

DogTV is a form of audiovisual therapy for dogs, created with the help of scientists and dog experts. The DogTV programs use healing sound frequencies, positive affirmations, relaxing music, and engaging visuals of animals and moving objects to keep pets entertained. Each program has colors that are adapted to your dog's vision, includes constant on-screen motion, and avoids sudden noises, movements, and disruptive frequencies.

How DogTV Helps Your Pet

Based on over 60 scientific studies, DogTV is intended to keep dogs happy, stimulated, and relaxed while their owners are away. It also helps to reduce separation anxiety and destructive behaviors that may result from that anxiety.

All available DogTV programs fall into 3 categories:

  • Relaxation: Videos are designed to calm and soothe your pet so they can feel more at ease when you're not around and be less likely to engage in hyperactive behavior.
  • Stimulation: These programs are made to be engaging and provide essential physical and mental stimulation.
  • Exposure: The exposure programs gradually introduce your dog to loud and unpleasant sounds such as thunder, street noise, vacuum cleaners, fireworks, and more. Exposure to each sound is limited so your pet can grow used to them.

Our Dog Boarding Health Policy

At Hefner Road Pet Resort, we have a “well pet” policy to ensure that every guest is healthy and parasite-free before staying with us. This keeps our facility safe for visiting pets and for our staff members.

  • Please verify that your dog is current with their rabies, kennel cough, leptospirosis*, and distemper-parvo vaccines.
  • Make sure that your pet is current on their flea and tick preventative.
    • Here's a list of accepted flea and tick preventatives:
      • Advantage
      • Advantix
      • Parastar
      • Vectra 3D
      • Bravecto (3 mo. Chew)
      • Nexgard (chew)
      • Simparica
      • Seresto (collar)
      • Comfortis
    • Here's a list of Heartworm Preventions with flea and tick prevention:
      • Trifexis
      • Advantage Multi
      • Sentinel Spectrum
      • Revolution
  • If you need help giving your pet their flea and tick preventative, we'd be happy to do so!
  • If your pet is not on one of the accepted treatments or not up to date, we can give your pet a single dose of prevention at an additional fee.

*Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection carried by possums, deer, and other types of wildlife. Since possums are very prevalent in the area, we believe that dogs here in Oklahoma City are at a higher risk for infection. If you have any questions about our lepto vaccine, please let us know.

Due to the rising demand for boarding and daycare, we will be making the following adjustments to our company policies. During times when we have significant increases in reservations, more staff is needed to ensure the well-being of all pets in our care. Late cancellations and no-shows have increased in conjunction with the requests for reservations, which affects our ability to schedule staff appropriately and to allow other clients the opportunity to book with us. Our goal in implementing these policy changes is to ensure a cohesive relationship with clients both new and established, as well as maintain our facility standards. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please feel free to call or email us for more information.

Effective Immediately:

  • A valid credit card must be on file for all reservations for new and existing clients.
  • New clients will be required to make a non-refundable, one-time deposit equal to one night of the reservation estimate, for their first reservation only. This deposit will be applied to the reservation total at checkout.
    • Deposits on reservations cancelled 48 hours prior will be rolled over to the next reservation. Reservations cancelled less than 48 hours prior will have the deposit kept as a cancellation fee.
  • All reservations are subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy.
  • We are requesting that all pets being picked up from boarding or daycare be picked up by 5:30 PM M-F, 4:30 PM Sat, unless other arrangements have been made with HRPR management. Pets being dropped off for boarding must be dropped off no later than 5 PM M-F, 4:30 PM Sat. This allows time for staff to get the pet settled, taken outside, fed, etc. before we close for the evening.
  • Hefner Road has a hard close time of 6 PM M-F and 5 PM on Saturday. This means we are locking the doors and allowing staff to go home at 6 PM. Pets that are not picked up by that time will have an additional boarding day added to their stay or will have an additional late fee added to their daycare charge, which may include a night of boarding.

Effective November 1, 2022:

  • Reservations will be subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy. Fees for cancellations 48 hours or less and no-shows will be subject to a fee equal to 1 night of the reservation estimate per pet.
    • Holidays (including any abutting weekends) and peak reservation times (including abutting weekends) will require a non-refundable deposit equivalent of 1 night of the scheduled reservation per pet, to be applied to the total cost of the stay at check out. If the holiday or peak time reservation is cancelled before the 48-hour notice window then the deposit will be rolled over to the pet's next boarding reservation.  Holiday or peak time reservations cancelled less than 48 hours prior will accrue a fee equal to the cost of 1 night of the scheduled reservation estimate per pet. Cancellations under 24 hours and no-shows will be subject to a fee equal to 2 nights of the reservation estimate per pet.
        • Holidays: New Year, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
        • Peak reservation times:  Fall break (Nov. 18 - Nov. 28), Winter break (Dec. 16 - Jan. 3), Spring break (Mar. 10 - Mar. 20), Summer vacation months (May 19-Aug. 10)
        • Hefner Road Pet Resort and Animal Hospital base calculated peak times off of the Putnam City Schools Academic Year Schedule.
  • Deposits and fees will be applicable to all reservations and non-negotiable unless a prior arrangement is made and agreed upon by the client and HRPR management.
  • Refuted cancellation or no-show fees without notice to management will result in the refusal of all future services.
