Have questions before you bring your pet to stay at Hefner Road Pet Resort? Browse some of our most frequently asked questions below, and be sure to give us a call at (405) 722-7257 if you have additional questions that are not addressed here.

What can my pet expect during their stay?

Your pet’s stay is all-inclusive, which means that we provide everything they’ll need while you’re away.

  • Our resort provides bedding, fluffy towels, cots, and beds; themed suites have couches.
  • We also offer Hill’s Science Diet i/d food for sensitive stomachs, in either canned or dry—whichever your pet prefers. We can also refrigerate food items as needed, but cannot accommodate raw food diets. Additionally, we provide clean food and water bowls for guests.
  • Toys and treats can also be provided.

Naturally, you are more than welcome to bring your pet’s food, treats, and bedding (machine washable). Make sure that all items from home are clearly labeled with your pet’s name and last name. Pets like having items with them that smell of home, so a blanket or t-shirt and a few toys are perfectly acceptable. We want your pet to be as comfortable as possible!

Do you offer doggie daycare or playgroup?

Yes, we offer both! And we also offer one-on-one daycare and playgroup for less social dogs. For safety reasons, we do require an “interview process” with our playgroup so that we can bring together dogs that have similar personalities and play styles and are similar in size. Does my pet need to be treated with flea and tick preventative before their arrival?

Yes! All pets must be current on a veterinarian-approved flea and tick preventative. If needed, we can apply a single dose at your expense when your pet arrives. NexGuard is our preferred product, but we also offer a topical called Parastar.

What vaccines does my pet need to have?

For your pet’s safety and that of our guests’, they need to be vaccinated. Canine guests must have their DHLP-PV-KC-RV (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvo, Bordetella, and rabies vaccines. Cats need their FVRPCPC-CLC-LK-RV (feline distemper, leukemia, and rabies) vaccines. All vaccines need to be given by a licensed veterinarian and kept up-to-date. If your pet is overdue, they must be vaccinated at least 7 days before their stay at Hefner Road Pet Resort. We can also administer vaccines upon arrival if needed.

How often are pets taken outside?

All of our canine guests are taken outside into a secure, fenced-in yard by a kennel attendant three times daily where they can walk around and do their business when they’re ready—just like at home. If you would like additional playtime for your pet, our TLC playtime packages offer an additional 10 minutes of play, or instead of play, your pet can receive a nice brush out or massage. It’s all about what they’d like to do! Our TLC package also allows for additional treats and email messages to update you on your pet’s stay. While cats do not get outside time, they can spend some time in one of our climbing tower rooms.

Are unspayed/unneutered pets allowed to board?

If your pet is over a year old, they must be spayed/neutered in order to board at our facility. Learn more about spaying and neutering on our hospital website!

Will my dog be able to have a bath or haircut during their stay?

Of course! Our pet resort offers full-service grooming for all dog breeds. We’re lucky to have talented groomers to take care of our guests’ grooming needs. You can request a grooming appointment for your pet online!

How soon in advance should I book my pet's reservation?

We recommend that you book your pet’s stay as soon as you know the exact dates. We’re especially busy during the holidays and over the summer, but we can adjust reservations if your traveling plans change. Either way, we don’t want your pet to miss out on their staycation—book their reservation today!

What will it cost?

Nightly rates depend on the suite that works best for your pet. We offer deluxe, deluxe plus, double deluxe plus, and themed suites. For a cost estimate, call (405) 722-7257 to speak with one of our team members.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes! We offer a 10% discount for active military to support Dogs on Deployment, an organization that assists military members with their pet's care while they're away.
